Eva Midgley is a Dutch-born writer-director developing original feature films rooted in character, humour and the complexities of human relationships. Her work spans narrative film, visual storytelling and commercial directing.

She wrote and directed eight art films for luxury lingerie brand Coco de Mer, and her short films The Birthday Cut and Peep Show have screened at festivals including Hollyshorts and LA Shorts. The Birthday Cut won Best Drama at the New York Shorts International Film Festival. Her screenplay The Magic of Valerie B. was a finalist at the Atlanta Film Festival while Frida does Flamenco achieved quarter- and semi-finalist status in Austin, Big Apple, Emerging Screenwriters Comedy and ScreenCraft Film Fund in 2022.

While focusing on narrative filmmaking, Eva built an international career directing commercials. Her earlier experience includes fashion direction for Esquire and Algemeen Dagblad, following the start of her career in documentary production.

After five years in London and twenty in New York, Eva is now based in Granada, Spain. Her connection to Andalusia and its flamenco traditions informs her current work, including Frida Does Flamenco, a comedy-drama about midlife reinvention, and a series of short films exploring flamenco. She is also developing The Great Escape, a comedy road movie about family, ageing and the unexpected journeys that bring us together.

After five years in London and twenty in New York, Eva now lives in Granada, Spain, and spends her days deep in flamenco practice and pushing Frida towards production.
